AVEVA Support Quality Control Automation
Nuclear Project | Edvance

Introduction

As part of the nuclear program, Edvance's engineering teams needed to make the quality control of piping supports in their industrial models under AVEVA more reliable.

The objective: automate a manual, time-consuming process, prone to errors, to guarantee reliable deliveries in a critical industrial context.

Client Context and Need

Piping supports play a key role in the design of industrial installations. Their management in AVEVA E3D requires rigorous controls to ensure compliance with technical standards and project specifications.

Edvance's teams faced an increasing volume of models to process, with quality controls conducted manually under AVEVA — a long, repetitive and error-prone process.

Identified Issues

Several operational limitations were identified:

  • no automation of quality controls on AVEVA piping supports
  • controls conducted manually, element by element
  • significant risk of human error on complex models
  • excessive time spent on verification tasks, to the detriment of design work

Our Intervention

Swims intervened as a specialized AVEVA engineering office to develop a custom tool directly integrated into the project environment.

The intervention was structured around three axes:

  • Analysis of existing quality control rules and standards applied to AVEVA piping supports
  • Development of a custom PML script automating batch controls, generating detailed reports
  • Integration and validation of the tool within the client's operational environment

Results and Impact

Quality control automation transformed how teams work:

  • significant reduction in verification time
  • errors detected earlier and more systematically
  • deliveries more reliable and compliant with nuclear standards
  • engineering teams refocused on high added-value tasks

Technical Environment

Technologies and expertise mobilized:

  • AVEVA E3D
  • PML development
  • C#
  • industrial 3D modeling
  • piping support engineering
